Im sure most of our listeners know all about the impactful and booming California music festival that has basically become a household name but for those of who do not know, it is a music festival, where artists who are the best of the best perform on a massive stage in front of thousands of fans. Coachella Valley is where the magic happens.

Unlike Vegas, what happens in Coachella does not stay in Coachella, it is packed with press people and style magazines for days. Its as much about fashion and culture as it is about who is performing. We will be discussing not just what makes Coachella one of the most impactful festivals in the world, but other festivals that may be geared towards specific groups of people and why those festivals are impactful as well.

There is AfroPunk, the Essence Fest, and so many others that many are buying tickets for as we speak.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson. Here is something Im sure every listener will be able to relate to: being a fan.

Now there are various ways of being a fan; it could be simply keeping tabs on when youre favorite artist drops a new album and immediately downloading every song, and going to every concert that artist performs, or it could be a more extreme fan who sets up a page dedicated to that artist and keeps tabs on what every single person says about that person online, taking matters into their own hands if they feel said artist is being disrespected. Does that sound like you? If not, what kind of fan are you?

As a society we tend to put a lot of pressure on artists to be the type of artists that we want to emulate, and to switch it up, but also be the same person we fell in love with. For many Kanye West stans (if there are any left) there were no more excuses or defenses left in the jar titled Stupid Things Kanye says. That jar is empty, and now lives rent free in the hosts mind.

Last year, the host spoke about Kanyes bizarre behavior and how his actions impacted those around him. Before, during and after that episode aired it seemed like everyday there was a new headline concerning Kanye. First it was his abuse toward his ex wife Kim Kardashian and her partner at the time Pete Davidson.

Then, it was his anti-semtism and anti-blackness. 2022 marked the year that Kanye would lose $1 billion in business deals, and the respect of his fans and many around him.

This week we will be discussing Kanye and what has come of the man that made a name of himself and became a legend in his own right. We will be joined once again by Katie Herchenroeder, a journalist who writes for The New Republic.

During the episode, the host referred to two Black men who trademarked 'White Lives Matter' in order to saw others from trademarking on the controversial rhetoric.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson! To celebrate the start of the new year and all that we have accomplished in the last year, we thought we could bring you more of what you love most about this podcast, a daring and unfiltered conversation on sex & love in 2022 and the kind of love we want and the kind we want no part of in the new year.

All of our experiences shaped who we are, and although we are grateful for the lessons, many of us want a clean slate and to establish clear boundaries for how we want to go about our relationships and dating. And one of the more valuable lessons of this episode is the power of deep meaningful friendships and how it can get us through the toughest times.

We will be joined by the host's incredible friends who have gotten the host through a lot over the past year, and whom she helped get through a lot as well. Tiye Sheppard is a consultant, designer and social media manager, and has a lot to say when it comes to self-love and romantic relationships. Destiny Oglesby is a recreational therapist who also has great gems in love. Later on, the host will give a review for Saucy but Sweet Review of the Week.

Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson is a proud partner of Sundays non toxic nail care brand focused on wellness. If youre anything like me, you are sick of talking about it, but still on the edge of your seat, wondering what is going to happen next. If you watched the Oscars, you know what Im talking about. The slap heard around the world.

The Will Smith and Chris Rock debacle still has everybody talking and will continue to have people talking for years to come. Most of us have never seen the Fresh Prince of Bel Air behave with such rage. But if it wasnt obvious enough before, Chris Rocks joke was the straw that broke the camels back, and Will Smiths rage has been building up for years. This week we will be talking about how the media has decided to spin Will Smiths slap as being less his fault, and more Jada's fault. As usual, women are attacked and blamed for the behavior of their men. And we are not here for any of it. We will be joined by the fabulous Sheneca Sharpe making her second debut on the podcast.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson. This week we will be talking about a topic that has been on my mind ever since I was a little girl. Discrimination andprejudice based on ones complexion typically darker complexions, and the hierarchy of lighter skin tone. We refer to it as colorism. Or as Queen Lupita Nyong'o calls it, the daughter of racism. In our society color dictates how people view us, and how we view themselves.

As Black women we are not only discriminated against by race but by our complexion. Many of the TV shows and films we consume, and even music impacts how we view and talk about our complexions.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson. This week is a little controversial, or maybe A LOT controversial. Were going to be talking about cultural appropriation, who is allowed to do it, and who isnt. Is it possible to admire a culture without appropriating or is admiration the root of cultural appropriation? Ill tell you this now, I do not have all the answers, so to help push this discussion further I will be talking about this with Yemi Osibogun an event producer who is not afraid to vocalize his opinion on all things music and culture especially pertaining to African and Black Americans. Follow Yemi on IG @nappyzeus.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson. Its been a long time, we shouldnt have left you, without a dope clip to step to. All joking aside, right now we are embarking on yet another summer in the midst of The Rona, and there are so many things to look forward to and to and beware of as restrictions loosen. We hope our listeners are vaccinated or plan to be vaccinated. For more information we urge you to visit the Centers for Disease and Control website. Now onto the good stuff. This week we are going to take a deep dive in the ocean of genuine conversations about how to enjoy our sex lives (or lack thereof) where to catch the best vibe without putting our health at risk, and what are travel plans are. Last summer many of us had to put some of our favorite traditions on hold, how do we plan to make up for what many of us considered a lost summer?

This week we have the amazing Karla Arroyo. Arroyo is a bilingual Bronx journalist who recently graduated from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY along with yours truly (class of 2020 gang!) She recently took a new position as community manager at Group SJR marketing agency. We got a triple threat on our hands y'all. Follow Karla on Twitter, @karleezysway.

Later in the episode we will be spotlighting an independent up-and-coming artist in a segment we will be conducting every so often titled, Saucy but Sweet Tune of the Week. This week we will be spotlighting R&B artist Kayana for the debut of our new segment.

Music Credits from the segment:

6 Feet by Kayana

Produced by Mediumrarecookies Beatz

We always come correct, and with extra spice than the week before. The last time, you heard from us we were talking about the election, and the importance of voting and SEX for those of us getting back out in the socially distant hopefully masked saddle. But this week we are putting all of our 2020 experiences in a box and shipping it far, far away. Just kidding, 2020 might have been a chaotic year, but we all learned so much about ourselves along the way. We will be discussing the highlights, the pitfalls, and our top most memorable moments of 2020. We are about to embark on a new year (hopefully one that is less chaotic and has more highlights than dark times) and so there is a lot to unpack before we say goodbye to 2020.

We are joined by the amazing Daisy Williams, an Australian native who recently graduated from the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism with yours truly (class of 2020 gang) She is about to embark on a new journey herself, interning at Rolling Stone next year. She is an arts and culture journalist, with a comic beat. Follow Daisy on IG @daisyjoywilliams.

As election season heats up, millennials have a lot on their plate, many of us are eager for change, and this time around this election can mean the difference between four years of actual change, or four more years of anger, pain, and division within the country. This week we are reflecting on dirty politics which have taken over this strange and unsettling election season, and finding love and lust in the midst of a health crisis.

We are also joined by our former guest Trone Dowd, who works as a reporter at VICE and another one of our former guests Nolle D Lilley, a journalist at the Craig Newmark School of Journalism, reporter for News 12and CNN Fellow. Being able to showcase your talents to the world should be a freedom for all regardless of race, but yet we see an industry that fails to do this.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson this week were going to be diving into the thick of it. Our last episode was about how we are handling being in the thick of this pandemic, but this week we will focus on something just as serious: police violence. These last few months have been filled with uncertainty. Millennials have gone from worrying about the pandemic, to protesting and using their voice to speak out about police brutality. Across the country, millennials are putting their lives on the line to bring social change and better the lives of millions of Black Americans.

This week we are joined by two white allies, Georgia native Alexandra Sapp who is using photography and video to spark change, as well as using her platform to educate her followers and New York-based Journalist and translator Roman Gressier. Gressier has become a valuable ally and continues to protest to bring out change. Follow Alexandra on IG @alex_sappy and @alexandra.sapp. Follow Roman on IG @romannoodles and on Twitter @romangressier.

This week well be diving into this complete mess of a pandemic which has led to us being isolated from our friends and family, and losing our sense of self. All of the plans we made have been halted indefinitely. Its easy to feel hopeless during this time, so this week we are going to talk about all our fears, and the downfalls but also the things we are doing to keep some sense of normalcy.

This week Im joined by Dalvin Brown, who is a journalist at USA TODAY and one of my peers at the Craig Newmark School of Journalism.

Welcome back to Saucy but Sweet with Ali McPherson. This week well be talking about some of the men with bad reputations, and whether those who abide to cancel culture have the right idea, canceling out the disgraced in the industry. But with the cancellation of bad men, comes the uncomfortable discussion of whether or not we should still be celebrating them, listening to their music, and giving them praise for their meaningful art. We are joined by one of my friends and the incredible journalist and VICE writer Trone Dowd. Follow Trone on twitter and ig @theloniusly.
